A friend of mine who is producing the WC06 media kits for US Soccer was apparently accidentally CC'ed the final roster in an email this afternoon. If you can't wait until tomorrow then here it is:

Goalkeepers:
Keller, Hahnemann, Howard

Defenders:
Pope, Cherundolo, Onyewu, Lewis, Bocanegra, Gibbs, Hejduk, Albright

Midfielders:
Reyna, O'Brien, Donovan, Dempsey, Beasley, Mastroeni, Convey, Olsen

Forwards:
McBride, Twellman, Johnson, Wolff

Pretty straight forward up and down, not really any surprises. Only real weakness is the lack of a true left back, and a true backup at left back.

If true, the only pick I had different was the Albright/Berhalter debate. I can certainly live with that squad representing us.

Well, I guess the guy most dissapointed would have to be Berhalter, if your list is real. Does this source know who the alternates are?

I agree with these...Glad to see albright make the 23 but I would be surprised if he saw the field. I would say the same for olsen if I didn't think mastro was going to pick up cards...

If that is the roster then we can make one definitive statement. MLS has helped US Soccer tremendously.

That's probably because the roster wasn't even set until after yesterday's Chivas-RBNY game.

Well, if it's true, I'm pleased to see that Albright made it over Berhalter. Not to say that I think all the other decisions were the right ones, just the most likely leading up to now. My fear is that had Berhalter made the team, Bruce would have had a crisis in confidence and gone with "experience" over talent and sat Onyewu or Gibbs.

I'm still not believing that when JOB can't even play one minute in a reserve match this past weekend for Chivas USA, he'll be OK by June 12th to face the best in the world.

Perhaps Noonan's lack of total health has hurt him. I hope he's the first alternate if JOB is not deemed fit by May 15th.

I'm glad to see Albright there--not for his D, but for his heading ability. Throw him on if we need a goal late.
